Safari & Tour Operator Websites
Enquiry-driven websites for safari lodges, tour operators and experience businesses
Designed From Johannesburg — Where Your Guests Land
Nobody books a safari the way they book a hotel room. They look for months, shortlist three or four properties, send an enquiry, and then have a long email conversation before any money changes hands. A website that pushes for an instant booking is solving the wrong problem.
Keeden Marketing designs for the enquiry. Photography that does the persuading, rates that are findable, and an enquiry form that gives your reservations team what they need to reply properly the first time.
A Johannesburg Studio for Johannesburg-Based Operators
We are based in the Edenvale and Bedfordview area, a short drive from OR Tambo, and we work with operators and lodge offices across Edenvale, Bedfordview, Sandton, Linksfield, Kempton Park, Greenstone, Modderfontein, Linbro Park, Germiston, Morningside, Sunninghill and Bryanston. Most safari businesses run their reservations and marketing from a Johannesburg office even when the property is in Limpopo or Mpumalanga, and that office is who we sit down with.
Meeting in person matters more here than most people expect. Rate structures, seasons, agent commissions and package inclusions are almost impossible to get right over email, and they are the parts of the website that decide whether an enquiry converts.
Designing for the Enquiry, Not the Booking
The safari buying cycle is long and conversational. Your website’s job is to get a well-qualified enquiry into your reservations inbox with the dates, party size, interests and budget indication already captured — so the first reply can be a real proposal instead of four questions. We design the enquiry path as the centre of the site rather than an afterthought in the footer.
Photograph-Heavy Sites That Still Load Fast
Your photography is the product, and it is also what makes most lodge websites unbearably slow. There is a right way to do this: properly sized and compressed images in modern formats, galleries that load as the visitor scrolls, and video that does not autoplay over a mobile connection. A guest browsing on hotel wifi in London should see your best image within two seconds.
Rates, Seasons and Packages
Rate presentation is where lodge websites most often fail. Green, shoulder and peak seasons, single supplements, child policies, conservation levies, included and excluded items, and often a separate trade rate — all of it has to be clear without becoming a spreadsheet. We build rate pages that a direct guest can understand at a glance and that your agents can work from without phoning you.
Trade and Direct — Two Audiences, One Site
If you work with agents as well as direct guests, your site is serving two audiences with different needs. Agents want rate sheets, fact sheets, commission terms and downloadable imagery. Direct guests want the story, the photography and the experience. We separate those cleanly, usually with a dedicated trade area, so neither audience has to wade through content written for the other.
Safari and experience businesses are a different audience to the health practices we usually work with, but the craft is the same — see our practice branding work for an idea of the approach. Existing lodge sites are almost always better served by a redesign than a fresh build, and AI SEO increasingly decides which properties get named when someone asks an assistant for a recommendation. Prices are published, and the first consultation at your Johannesburg office is free.
Safari & Tour Operator Websites — Common Questions
Should we offer instant online booking?
Usually not for safari. The buying cycle is long and conversational, and a well-qualified enquiry converts better than a booking engine that cannot handle seasons, supplements and child policies. Day tours and shorter experiences are a different matter and can take direct bookings.
Our galleries are enormous. Can the site still be fast?
Yes, with correct sizing, modern image formats, compression and loading images as the visitor scrolls. Slow lodge websites are almost always the result of uploading camera-resolution files straight into the page.
Can you build a separate area for travel agents?
Yes. A trade area with rate sheets, fact sheets, commission terms and downloadable photography, kept separate from your direct-guest content.
Can the site handle multiple currencies or languages?
Multiple currency display for rates, yes. Full translation is possible but adds real cost and ongoing maintenance, so we would want to see where your enquiries actually come from before recommending it.
Do you work with operators outside Johannesburg?
Our in-person meetings cover Johannesburg East and Sandton, where most reservations offices are. If your property is elsewhere and your office is too, we work remotely.
